The yellow beast

So here's the story. We took our green van, that we've had for about a year now, into the shop to get the JCI done. For those unsure, it's kind of like the registration/inspection you get done in the states, well except more expensive, and more intense. They run the car through the ringer, give you a list of any and all problems that must be fixed before it passes (the first time we did it, they cited us for our windshield wipers being rusted.....). It can be very expensive depending on the repairs. Also, most vehicles here can be purchased for about $2000 or less. So really, they're junk cars. Anyway, we took the van in, the van I've been loving for the past year, and find that there's something wrong with the head gasket. I'm not sure what that is, but apparently it means that the oil is leaking into the coolant, and other places, being a very bad thing. We bought this van outright for $1800, they wanted over $2000 to fix just that, not including everything else that could be wrong, and the expense of the JCI itself. The mechanic was very nice about it, and just handed our stuff and said it wasn't worth the cost to fix it, and we should junk the van and get something else. Normally, no problem, but with Tim leaving in just a few days, we were not so happy about it. We looked at our options for junking the van, went to the lemon lot and found two decent choices in vehicles that had been recently JCI'd, so would be less likely to have problems. We called, set up test drives, and within 24 hours became the proud new owners of this van. Now granted, it's not the prettiest of colors, but it isn't too bad. It could be neon! You'll never miss me either! I think that there's maybe 3-4 of these babies on the island, so more than likely if you see this thing driving around, it's me. Oh yeah, and if for some reason you pass it stranded on the side of the 58, feel free to stop and help me out, just in case it isn't as great as we think it is!

I remember seeing that van when I lived there...have fun getting the looks! Isn't it great that vans are so cheap compared to the States? Miss you and hope your pregnancy is going well, you look great!
