Awards

 Well, these last couple of weeks have been quite busy for this little family.  First things first.....

This little girl won ANOTHER kids of character award.  This time, she won it for Citizenship.  She was so excited, mostly because she knew she'd get a Rice Krispie Treat as a prize.  I don't think she cares much for the certificate.

This little girl had a really hard year.  She's struggled with friends, and her teacher, and her grades dropped very very low.  She worked her tiny behind off this last quarter and got her grades up to the point she earned the Silver Honors Award, meaning she got all A's and B's on her report card!  So very proud of her, that was hard work, and she truly earned this.

This kids mom got an email telling us he was going to get a secret award at the 5th grade awards assembly.  He didn't know what it was, and I didn't know what it was, and he was surprised and happy he won.  He improved his Lexile reading by a little over 100 points.  He's struggled with reading, so this was another kid that worked hard, and  truly earned an award.  We've been so pleased and surprised of late to see that rather than playing games, and watching TV he's been choosing to read books instead.  He finished the entire Percy Jackson series, and has been working on the next set of books in that genre.  We're so proud of all his hard work.  We also finally finished his IEP process, and he's all set up to get the extra help he needs for next year, when he starts (gulp) middle school!

This little kid started the PSCD preschool in January, and had several really big goals to work on through the year.  While he's done well, and has improved, most of his goals (especially speech) are still needing work, but he completely MASTERED his social goals.  He's been playing well with others, and learning to share better, and finding ways to communicate with other children, even when he can't vocalize what he needs.  It was also his very last day of preschool for this year.  He was so sad to hear that he has no more school until next year.  Good news is, he'll have the same set of teachers, and he'll get to work on his goals some more! This little guy was waiting for me on a pile of laundry.  I had no idea Germany had native lizards, and I welcome him into my home any time he wants to come it.  He's a cutie isn't he?  Maybe I should have caught him and kept him as a pet.  Oh well at least I have a picture to remind me.
