We had yet another no school day in early February, and some ladies decided to head to a swimming pool not too far from home called Monte Mare. I wasn't really feeling in the mood to go anywhere, but I knew the kids would have fun, so I packed them up, and to my surprise we all had a blast. You pay an entrance fee that covers about 3 hours of time. They put a wristband on you that will open lockers, and be scanned if you choose to buy anything during your time there. Then as you leave, they take the wristband and scan it again, and you pay for what you purchased. Similar to how things worked in Baden Baden. The pool was awesome. They had a kiddie pool area, and it was so cute. Davin loved it.
Lissa and her bestie. I love these two!
We were finally able to get Davin into the dentist. He looks happy and content here, but he was anything but. We tried to get full dental x-rays, but he was freaking out. He didn't like the little apron he had to wear, he didn't like having anything in his mouth, and he especially didn't like the exam. We discovered that his enamel didn't form correctly on his teeth, and they were starting to crumble away. It also makes the teeth super easy to get cavities. He had a really big one that was causing him trouble, but they knew they couldn't take care of it there, so they referred us back to the dental clinic on base. We were lucky, and they had an opening the very next week. It was fortunate too, because the night before his appointment, the poor guy was up all night crying and screaming from pain. Turns out, he had an abscess.
After the dentist discovered the fever, and heard the story of the night before, he decided that they needed to take care of the tooth right then. So, they prepped him to be knocked out so they could remove his tooth. He's smelling the different smells for the air. They hook that thing up to the oxygen, and while he's out he can smell that. It's pretty cool.
They gave him a shot of Ketamine, and after about 10 minutes he was out. It was really hard to watch, and see him go under. The tooth came out quickly, and luckily they didn't think the infection was too bad, so they didn't have to dig around and drain it. It took over 3 hours to get it all done, and he finally woke up long enough to pass all the tests that would allow him to leave.
We got home, and he crashed on the couch for an extra couple hours. By the time it was bedtime, he seemed so much happier, and in less pain. Poor little guy, I hate it when they are feeling less than great.
