Rylissa, the poor girl, has tough teeth. Her baby teeth are teeny tiny, and they're worn clear down on the inner side. So, naturally, when her permanent teeth start growing in, it starts causing problems. Poor girl had one permanent tooth come in, but instead of pushing her baby tooth out, it pushed it up, and up and up, and gave her an awesome snaggle tooth, that we couldn't get out. So off we went to the dentist, where they said it was definitely a problem and decided to pull it out. They numbed her, then gave her small shots around the tooth, just to make sure, and popped that sucker out. Then they looked around and found that ALL her molars are the same, and will most likely get pushed up and up and up. Her baby teeth are just problematic aren't they? She managed to pull one molar out the very next day, but the rest are stubborn and staying firmly in place.
Because of this problematic baby tooth we got pulled, her permanent tooth grew in farther back. Since all her front permanent teeth have come in on the bottom, her top tooth can't naturally move forward. It gets blocked by her bottom teeth. This will eventually cause problems, so they did a mold of her mouth, and are deciding if they can make a ramp retainer for her, that will help guide that top tooth into place, without hurting or damaging the bottom teeth. We're still waiting to hear whether or not it will work.
This was her first time with dental impressions, and she didn't like it too much. She rocked it though, and we were in and out, quick as a bunny.
Corben on the other hand, had one of his major temper tantrums, and he broke his retainer. So it was off to the dentist with him where we discovered he had no cavities, but doesn't brush well at all, and found out he's ready for his second stage of braces. Since we're moving soon, we'll wait until we're settled in our new home before getting those started. He did get impressions for a new retainer though, and he should get that next week. Ugh.... back to braces.
