Pinewood Derby

It's that time of year again, time for the Pinewood Derby.  Corben has always loved the derby, and sadly we didn't get to participate last year.  We'd just moved here, and we didn't know anyone, know how to get anywhere, and had not tools, or supplies, and we weren't able to get the car built.  This year, we have all that stuff, and we had a blast getting his car put together.  It was bittersweet though, because this is also Corben's very last derby.  This year Corben chose a pretty easy design.  I whipped out my awesome scroll saw and cut the shape, then Corben did the rest.  He sanded, painted, and helped Tim figure out how to get it at just the right weight.

This year, he didn't place.  I think he was 7th or 8th out of 12, so right there somewhere in the middle.  His car was a huge hit with the little kids, and it was fun watching it go down the track.  He also won, the best paint design award.
