A Good Ouch

We told Rylissa that when she turned 8 she could choose whether or not she wanted to have pierced ears.  Well, we actually spent the last year debating between the age of 8 and 12.  We finally settled on 8, and told her that she could choose to do it if she wanted.  She decided after some careful thought that she did want to have earrings, and so the morning of her baptism we took her to the local Claires.

She picked out the earrings that she wanted.  She chose Rose Crystal.  I thought it was a great choice for her.  Here she is getting prepped for the punch.

It's been a long time since I got my ears pierced, and neither of us was expecting it to hurt as much as it seemed to.  There were tears.  She closed and covered her eyes really tight, and the second ear was punched.  She cried for a little longer, then we went to Cold Stone for a special ice cream treat.

Much later that evening she's a lot happier to have herself some pretty earrings!
