White Beach

We went to White Beach on Friday for a branch camp out. White Beach is about an hours drive from our house (though, it's only about 17 km away), and it's on a naval base. It was so beautiful. They had the option of tent camping or renting a trailer. We'd had such a good experience with military trailers in Valdez, we took that route. We were not impressed. The trailer was kind of dirty, the A/C didn't work too well, and the dishes we rented were dingy. However, we were there to have fun, so we made do with what we had. The plan was for people to arrive on Friday night, mingle, talk, have some dinner, and then on Saturday morning we were going to have the primary activity. For the activity, we had our counselor in the presidency act as Samuel the Lamanite. He stood atop the wall and cried for our children to repent! It was sooooo funny. He was great at it. Here he is crying for repentance, and you can see someone jumped the gun and launched a water balloon at him.
The kids got to wear bandannas to represent being Lamanites, or Nephites. Then it turned into an all out water balloon fight. Great fun for the kids.

White beach also had a decent playground, and most kids wandered off toward that area before long, come on water balloons can only go so far before the call of slides, and zip lines get ya!

Wow, thinking in kilometers. I don't know how many years I'd have to live in another country to start doing that.
